Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Organize and schedule diagnostic imaging, radiology services, and related procedures while adhering to departmental guidelines.
  • Coordinate complex appointments that involve several steps, resources, and clinical considerations.
  • Communicate with patients to arrange appointments, clarify scheduling details, and provide necessary pre-appointment information.
  • Deliver empathetic and professional customer service throughout the scheduling process.
  • Ensure scheduling information is complete and accurate before confirming appointments.
  • Verify that required data is available to facilitate proper scheduling.
  • Engage with clinical staff and physician offices to gather additional information or clarify any questions.
  • Address scheduling issues and clinical inquiries appropriately by escalating to the relevant team.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of appointment details and patient interactions in the scheduling software and electronic medical records.
  • Assist with scheduling calls in a call-center environment, including handling rescheduling and cancellations.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality while adhering to HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Participate in training, team meetings, and departmental communications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet the scheduling demands and improve patient accessibility.
  • Perform additional scheduling duties as assigned based on departmental requirements.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in healthcare scheduling with a focus on radiology and procedural scheduling.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • Proven experience in patient communication regarding appointment logistics and preparation.
  • Background in a healthcare-related setting such as hospitals, physician practices, or imaging centers.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience with healthcare scheduling and electronic medical record platforms.
  • Proficiency in navigating multiple scheduling systems and maintaining communication with patients and clinical teams.
  • Prior experience with Cerner is preferred.
  • Strong skills in data entry and computer operation.
