Job Summary
The Heart Failure ICU RN plays a critical role in providing specialized care for patients with severe heart failure conditions. This position involves working in an intensive care setting, focusing on managing complex clinical situations and supporting patients through acute episodes of heart failure. The nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and work closely with healthcare professionals to implement care plans and assess patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the condition of patients in the heart failure ICU unit.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and observe for effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers in creating and updating individual care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about heart failure management, treatment options, and lifestyle changes.
- Document patient care activities in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families during critical healthcare moments.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing heart failure care within the ICU.
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience in critical care or cardiac nursing is highly desirable.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification necessary.
- Strong communication, organizational, and assessment skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
