Job Summary
The Night Shift Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical-Surgical unit plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care during nighttime hours. This position involves monitoring and managing patients who require surgical recovery or medical observation, ensuring their safety and comfort while adhering to the highest nursing standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the Medical-Surgical unit during night shifts.
- Monitor patient vital signs, recording and reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop patient care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Educate patients and their families about health management and post-operative care.
- Ensure a safe and sanitary environment for patients, complying with all hospital policies and protocols.
- Document all care and relevant patient information accurately in the electronic health record system.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Experience in a Medical-Surgical setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
