Job Summary
The Patient Services Coordinator is responsible for orchestrating and managing patient appointments, procedures, diagnostic exams, surgical events, and hospital admissions across various healthcare providers. This temporary-to-permanent role requires on-site work from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, located in St. Paul, MN, with a compensation of $25-26 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Ensure effective communication and management of provider schedules and calendars, documenting activities within the Epic system.
- Confirm insurance coverage and secure prior authorizations as needed.
- Oversee referral, insurance, and scheduling work queues to guarantee prompt follow-up and resolution.
- Compile patient charts by examining records, acquiring outside documentation, and ensuring accurate scanning and indexing into the EMR.
- Arrange interpreter services as required.
- Maintain records, manuals, and educational materials within the department.
- Engage in data reporting and uphold compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with processes related to physician reimbursement, credentialing, charge capture, and medical records as assigned.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is essential.
- 2–5 years’ experience in a medical office, healthcare scheduling, patient access, provider coordination, or administrative support within healthcare.
- Proficiency with Epic software is required.
- Background in scheduling appointments and coordinating healthcare services.
- Experience in a patient-facing healthcare or customer service position.
- Able to manage complex workflows independently with little oversight.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is necessary.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a healthcare-related field.
- Experience in insurance verification and obtaining prior authorizations.
- Experience managing referral, insurance, or scheduling processes.
- Skills in obtaining, reviewing, and overseeing medical records.
- Ability to support multiple healthcare providers and handle intricate scheduling tasks.
- Experience in oncology or specialty clinics is highly regarded.
